RescueBeacon is a fundraising platform built for verified U.S. animal-welfare organizations — 501(c)(3) nonprofits and government shelters. Rescues post specific, clearly defined needs. Supporters fund them in seconds, then find out exactly what happened — because a closed need owes you an update.
No comment sections. No leaderboards. No algorithms engineered to keep you scrolling or shaming you into giving. Just transparency, follow-through, and rescue work funded properly.
Why
Urgent, finite needs are being funded on the worst possible infrastructure.
- Real need looks identical to noise — a verified medical quote and an anonymous plea arrive in the same feed.
- The outcome never comes back. Money leaves through a payment link and most donors never learn if the animal was helped.
- Rescue staff become moderators, rewriting the same request across four platforms and defending it in the comments.
- Reach beats legitimacy. Small, rural, volunteer-run rescues do the same work with a fraction of the audience.

Trust is earned in public, and it never finishes being earned.
Verified rescues only
Every organization is a checked U.S. tax-exempt — a 501(c)(3) or a government shelter. Real need should never look identical to noise.
Specific, capped needs
A flare names one thing, what it costs, and when it happens. No open-ended appeals, no invented urgency.
Outcomes, documented
When a need closes, the rescue files an outcome update. Supporters find out what actually happened.
Humans in the loop
Moderation is a human responsibility. AI may triage, but it never makes the final call alone.
Deliberately not building
The absences are the product.
The platform should feel alive because needs are being met — not because it manufactures anxiety. These are permanent commitments, not a shortlist for later.

Who’s behind it
I’m building RescueBeacon because animal rescue deserves better.
RescueBeacon is built and operated by Beatriz Wheeler — a 501(c)(3) sanctuary and rescue director, shelter volunteer, and long-time foster who has spent years inside the world this platform serves. What started as an idea is now becoming a real system, built from the ground up to give rescuers better tools, stronger connections, and a place to find help when it matters most.
That background shapes the work: every feature here is held against the question of whether it helps rescue — or just looks like it does.
We are talking to rescues before we write the rest of the code.
RescueBeacon is in private-beta discovery. The roadmap is being written with rescues, not for them — and founding rescues shape what gets built first.
